SHEET MASK SERIES: The Face Shop “Essential Mask Sheet: Pearl”

Part two of my Korean Skincare series features a mask I picked up at The Face Shop store in Koreatown (a neighborhood in Manhattan).

I have several other products from The Face Shop and was very excited to try this product. I was a bit hesitant at first since I was not exactly sure what pearls can do for your skin.

The mask describes “A clear and translucent mask sheet for smooth and light absorption and intensive efficacy of pearl.” While I’m not exactly sure why my skin needs to absorb light better (especially since I get sunburns all the time) but I was willing to try it.

What shocked me is that this mask had actual pearl dust in it! The first thing I noticed when I opened this mask is that it has a heavy perfume scent to it. I prefer my skin products to be unscented and at times the scent was overwhelming.

The mask itself felt great and stayed put with no problems while I watched some old episodes of the Bad Girls Club.

I did feel that my skin started to feel a bit dried out after a while. At times I was unsure if the masks was starting to dry out after wearing it for 15 minutes. When I removed the mask my skin looked nice and refreshed but I did notice a small breakout on my cheek the next morning.

I think this mask would be better for someone with oily skin or someone who does not have sensitive skin. For the price of the mask it did its job…I think?
