What Watching One Episode of The Bad Girl’s Club Taught Me

I have seen A LOT of trashy reality tv in my life. While this is not exactly something noble or something worth bragging, about I have learned a few things.

I never realized that if you are chosen to become a Real Housewife you must the same chiffon dress in multiple colors. Look at Ramona Singer you’ll know what I’m talking about. I also learned that a mob wife needs to have dramatic hand gestures and the most intimidating stare on the planet.

But nothing prepared me for when I decided to watch the first episode of season 12 of Oxygen’s Bad Girl’s Club.

What makes a Bad Girl? I’m honestly still not sure. A lot of cursing, possibly some jail time, pretending you roll with French Montana’s crew, etc. The biggest characteristic? Having ZERO SHAME WHATSOEVER! You have not problem if your future employer sees you intoxicated and punching some girl in the face. You also enjoy wearing clothing that shows off every single trashy tattoo and flaw you posses.

I learned that women on this show are portrayed as extremely petty and self conscious. Trying to be the trashiest girl in the room appears to be a competition, mostly by walking around in front of cameras in their underwear. Apparently one life coach shows up at one point but clearly she does not do any good. I’m not even sure if any of them are employed. It breaks my heart that they are almost thirty and this show is their source of income.

I cannot believe that any woman would agree to be filmed and portrayed like this. It is like watching a train wreck being hit with an atomic bomb during a hurricane.

Also, I was unaware that there were that many ways to wear neon polyester.

  1. My sister loves this show, and I won’t lie, I watch it whenever she turns it on. I thought the show was about reforming the woman and helping them be better (earliest seasons I remember someone lost a job and had to leave the house) but now it’s just sleep with everyone, form cliques, and be as revealing as ever to get camera time. I wish it were more like Queen B (remember that show?)
