If you are anything like me, you are obsessed with everything Lupita Nyong’o wears. While Nyong’o obviously has a flair for style, she is getting some extra help from stylist Michaela Erlanger. Relatively unknown before she burst onto the scene after dressing Nyong’o for her red carpet events, Erlanger is becoming one of the most sought after stylists in Hollywood.
According to her website, Erlanger graduated from Parsons The New School for Design and perfected her eye for style with the late Annabel Tollman. She says that experience as Senior Stylist and Assistant for Tollman is what made her the stylist she is today.
Erlanger’s first major client was Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery for the 2013 Golden Globes. Later, Erlanger was introduced to Nyong’o while filming for 12 Years a Slave and as Erlanger puts it, “The rest is history.”
Why do I love Erlanger’s style despite the obviously amazing pieces we have seen her put A-listers in? Her ability to mix vintage pieces and modern tailoring makes for classic and beautiful looks. She can take a bold color or pattern and simple silhouettes look to die for even for women like me who would prefer to wear dark colors everyday.
So if you’re reading this Michaela…please come raid my closet…and please bring Lupita with you.
Here are my three favorite looks styled by Erlanger:
Michelle Dockery at Golden Globes 2014
Lupita Nyong’o at Golden Globes 2014….of course
Lupita Nyong’o at the Gotham Awards
